Level 6 SATs Mathematics
In 2012 optional level 6 key stage 2 SATs papers were reintroduced for high attaining pupils. Level 6 opened up a whole new range of topics that needed to be covered in order to cope successfully with the papers.
Level 6 papers were discontinued after the tests in May 2015 due to the new curriculum changes where levels no longer apply. At present, there are no plans to re-introduce extended SATs tests.
Unlike the Level 3-5 tests, the Level 6 mathematics tests consisted of both a non-calculator paper and a calculator paper.
Previously, Level 6 SATs were in use until 2002 but in a slightly different format:
2001 Level 6 Mathematics Test C
2002 Level 6 Mathematics Test C
While the Level 6 papers are no longer in use for Key Stage 2 national curriculum testing, Level 6 maths correlates with the type of work introduced in Key Stage 3, particularly in Years 7 and 8. Level 6 maths papers can make excellent revision aids for these year groups, and are also useful for children in Year 6 who are working well above their age group.
